About Us

Group of people meeting. The UMass Donahue Institute addresses critical questions and develops innovative solutions to help organizations and agencies from both the public and private sector meet challenges, measure success, and set goals. As part of the UMass President’s Office, we report to the University’s vice-president for economic development. We frequently collaborate with faculty and staff from all five UMass campuses, connecting the inquiry and insight of academia with the urgency and pragmatism of the business world.

Our staff of experts blends a range of academic credentials with hands-on professional experience in varied technical skill areas including research, training, and consulting. Subject matter areas of expertise include economic and public policy research and analysis; applied research and program evaluation; organizational development and learning solutions; democracy education; regional business services and job seeker resources; and early childhood development and research, as well as in a variety of special project areas.

Applying our combined knowledge, expertise, and resources we serve a range of clients, from small non-profit organizations to large global corporations, as well as municipalities, federal agencies, school districts, and statewide associations. Our work is funded by grants, contracts, and fees generated by the services we provide.
